Introduction
Concor Construction invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of a Senior Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic. The successful incumbent will report to the Workshop Foreman. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing a wide range of earthmoving and heavy-duty construction and mining equipment in the plant workshop to ensure maximum availability, reliability, and performance of the equipment. Preference will be given to Employment Equity candidates. This position is on a limited-duration basis ("LDC").
The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) :
Maintenance & Repairs
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults on earthmoving equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, graders, bulldozers, dump trucks, etc.).
- Perform scheduled services and preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer specifications.
- Carry out repairs on engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, braking systems, and other mechanical components.
- Overhaul and rebuild machinery components when required.
Workshop Operations
Operate within the plant workshop environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.Maintain accurate service and repair records for all equipment.Ensure work is completed within set timelines to minimise equipment downtime.Quality & Safety
Adhere to safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) standards and procedures.Inspect equipment post-maintenance to ensure repairs meet operational and safety requirements.Identify and report potential hazards or unsafe practices.Technical Support
Provide technical advice and guidance to operators and site supervisors on equipment usage and maintenance.Travel to sites will be required when necessary to assist in troubleshooting complex equipment failures in collaboration with technical teams.Qualifications
Trade Test Certificate : Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Mechanic or equivalent.Experience
Minimum 5 years post-experience in servicing and repairing heavy earthmoving equipment.Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.Experience working in a plant workshop environment is essentialMust have own toolsMust have a valid driver's licenseKnowledge and Skills
Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilitiesAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, parts manuals, and schematicsAttention to detail and accuracy in repairsGood communication and teamwork skillsCommitment to safety and quality standardsAbility to work and be productive without supervisionKnowledge of the use of diagnostic computers will be an advantageEnsure correct parts are ordered to OEM standards.#J-18808-Ljbffr
