Semi-Skilled Maintenance Assistant

Duties and Responsibilities :
- Responds immediately to machinery and equipment related breakdowns, problems, fault-findings and repairs across all areas of operations to ensure minimal downtime.
- Perform proactive and corrective maintenance as per work order to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the machines do not deteriorate.
- Perform and verify start up and shutdown of lines and equipment
- Perform machine cleaning tasks and ensure machines and equipment is kept clean and free from production residue
- Take part in the Inspection, testing machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine problems and thereafter take the necessary corrective actions.
- Assist in assembling, installations and or repair on all facility machinery, equipment and pipe systems
- Undertake basic electrical maintenance tasks and repairs
- Perform general maintenance tasks including and not limited to landscaping, plumbing, carpentry, etc.
- Clean, tighten and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, chains, slides, conveyors and other parts of machinery
- Identify low on stock of spares, machine part and consumables and place an orders accordingly.
- Conduct machinery and equipment Inspections as per the daily checklists
- Perform line change overs, adjustments and setups of machines and equipment
- Observe all safety regulation, company rules, regulations and procedures.
- Observe the good manufacturing practices (GMP)
- Be fully machine based during operating hours
Requirements :
Grade 12 (Mathematics and Physical Sciences)Technical N2 or higher certificate in mechanical engineering studies with practical experience / trainingMinimum of 2 years experience in manufacturing and packing industry.Knowledge of carton packing machines, vertical and horizontal fillers (liquid, cream and powder) and tubing machinesKnowledge and Skills
Ensure adherence to engineering quality standards in maintenance of equipment and machinerybasic understanding of engineering principles and best practicesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings, manuals and instructionsBasic knowledge of fitting and turning techniques, tools and principles in the factory maintenanceKnowledge of basis electrical engineering and electrical systems.Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a teamGood communication skills (written and verbal)Analytical skills and fault-finding skillsAvailable to work shifts, overtime, including weekends and public holidays when required to.
