Key Responsibilities :
- Design & Technical Execution :
Design and oversee the installation of mechanical systems such as :
HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning)
Fire protection systemsPlumbing, pumping, and drainage systemsCompressed air, gas reticulation, and mechanical plant systemsReview and interpret technical drawings and specifications for mechanical componentsEnsure compliance with SANS standards, industry codes, and project requirementsProject Engineering & Site Coordination :Supervise and inspect mechanical installations on construction sites
Provide technical guidance to subcontractors and site teamsAssist with project scheduling, procurement planning, and materials coordinationManage the commissioning and handover of systems, with supporting documentationCost & Quality Control :Collaborate with Quantity Surveyors to evaluate mechanical BOQs, variations, and cost impacts
Monitor and enforce quality assurance and quality control proceduresDrive value engineering initiatives to improve efficiency without compromising performanceCompliance & Documentation :Prepare method statements, O&M manuals, and technical reports
Ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance at all stages of the projectLiaise with professional consultants, municipal officials, and statutory bodiesStakeholder & Team Collaboration :Work alongside Civil Engineers, Structural Engineers, Architects, and Project Managers
Provide real-time updates on progress, risks, and site conditionsMaintain strong communication with clients, contractors, and suppliersJob Experience & Skills Required (Ideal Candidate Profile) :
Bachelors Degree or BTech in Mechanical Engineering36 years relevant experience in building services and / or industrial mechanical systemsProficient in design tools (AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, or similar)Strong working knowledge of SANS, ASHRAE, or other relevant building service codesExperience with design & build, fast-track, and multi-disciplinary projectsAbility to manage multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlinesValid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites as neededA solution-focused achiever who finds a way, not an excuseDriven by technical excellence and delivery under pressureMeticulous, methodical, and obsessed with qualityA strong communicator who can hold their ground and lead by exampleAlways learning, improving, and committed to a long-term engineering careerIf you are interested in this opportunity, please apply directly.
