Millwright (Permanent) Port Elizabeth

An established and respected automotive manufacturing company based in Port Elizabeth is seeking a qualified Millwright to join their maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal uptime and reliability of production equipment through preventative and corrective maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on machinery and production equipment

Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults

Perform breakdown repairs efficiently to reduce downtime

Calibrate, install and maintain motors, pumps, conveyors, presses, and production lines

Execute fault-finding using PLC systems and basic instrumentation

Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards

Complete job cards, maintenance logs and shift reports accurately

Participate in continuous improvement and TPM initiatives

Minimum Requirements

Recognised Trade Test Certificate Millwright (Olifantsfontein or equivalent, MERSETA-accredited)

Matric / Grade 12 with Maths & Science

Minimum 5 years experience as a Millwright in an automotive or manufacturing environment

Strong experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems

Basic PLC fault-finding and inverter knowledge (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley)

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings

Willingness to work shifts, overtime, weekends, and perform standby duties when required

Must have a clear criminal record and valid South African ID

Preferred Attributes

Knowledge of lean manufacturing and TPM

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills

Good communication and teamwork skills

Physically fit and medically fit for duty
