MEDICAL SPECIALIST ORTHOPAEDICS

Requirements :

• Registration as a Medical Practitioner (MBChB) with the HPCSA and registered or registerable as an Orthopaedic Specialist (FC Ortho (SA)) and MMed. Experience in Paediatric Orthopaedic, Trauma complex, Orthopaedic cases and arthroplasty. Commuted Overtime is compulsory.

Duties :

• Clinical management of Orthopaedic patients as a Consultant at Helen Joseph / Rahima Moosa Hospital Complex. Do post intake and follow-up ward rounds and supervising registrars, medical officers and Interns rotating in Orthopaedics. Managing patients attending Outpatient Department clinic. Participating in the academic duties of the Wits Department of Orthopaedics. Teaching, training and supervise undergraduate medical and postgraduate students (registrars) in the discipline of Orthopaedic Research. Outreach to facilities / services in the catchment areas. Participate in the multidisciplinary team. Participate in management committees in Helen Joseph Hospital. The successful candidate should be aware of the fact the Orthopaedic Department, at Helen Joseph Tertiary / Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospitals work as one unit and he or she may be required to render a service at Rahima Moosa Hospital.
