As a result of internal development within our Education & Engagement team at Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR) is currently seeking to establish a Project Officer (Aboriginal Identified) talent pool to ensure were ready to meet future needs and challenges throughout the remainder of 2025 and beyond.

This role is to support the Education and Engagement Branch in delivering effective water regulation by promoting understanding encouraging voluntary compliance and building trust with the NSW water community. The role will focus on stakeholder engagement project support and data management including the integration of Aboriginal cultural values into NRARs operational work.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement stakeholder engagement plans to support effective communication and participation.
  • Support workshops meetings and consultations to share information and gather feedback.
  • Build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders including Aboriginal communities with cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Prepare and distribute clear engagement materials such as newsletters fact sheets and reports.
  • Gather and analyse stakeholder feedback to inform and improve engagement strategies.
  • Assist with planning scheduling and budgeting of projects.
  • Monitor project progress identify risks and prepare progress reports.
  • Manage project-related data collection analysis and reporting to support informed decision-making
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in relevant software and tools for project management data analysis and reporting.
  • This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).

    Key knowledge and experience

  • Experience in project administration and coordination or project management particularly in coordinating and delivering small-scale projects.
  • Basic understanding of Aboriginal cultural protocols and practices.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement particularly with diverse groups including Aboriginal communities government agencies and industry representatives.
  • Essential requirements

  • A current NSW drivers licence and a willingness to drive to remote locations which may include overnight or longer stays.
  • Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria :
  • is of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander descent and
  • identifies as an Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander person and
  • is accepted as such by the Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander community.
