Overview

Senior Manager, People Business Partners, Engineering at GitLab. This role supports the Engineering Organization in the EMEA region, acting as a trusted advisor, coach, and change agent to senior leadership with data-driven people insights to align business objectives with people solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the AI Engineering and Platforms Engineering teams, including two VP leaders and their teams.
  • Influence and execute a people strategy that supports local organization and business goals.
  • Consult on global expansion efforts in the region, including participating in due diligence.
  • Partner with the broader People Business Partners and People Group to implement GitLab's People programs and policies locally.
  • Advise on People programs and solutions to support EMEA regional needs based on local expertise.
  • Collaborate with Team Member Relations (TMR) and legal teams on HR compliance, local employment law, and regulatory requirements in the EMEA region.
  • Consult and inform local regulatory bodies such as Works Councils on topics affecting employment or working conditions.
  • Use data to identify trends and develop solutions to drive results.
  • Maintain deep expertise in client groups’ business, operating model, objectives, and industry trends.
  • Partner with client group leadership and People groups to drive a talent strategy focused on engagement and retention; coordinate with Total Rewards and Talent & Engagement on trends and retention levers.
  • Provide guidance on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Own iterations related to company-wide Talent Programs, including annual Talent Assessment and Compensation Reviews.
  • Facilitate connections to other People Group DRIs to ensure focus on high-impact work and engagement of relevant DRIs.

What You’ll Bring

  • Relevant, progressive People Business Partner experience supporting executive leaders.
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced, technology company as a PBP, focused on supporting the EMEA region.
  • Experience partnering with other PBPs to support business strategy and local EMEA requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of EMEA employment law and regulations; experience with local regulatory bodies such as Works Councils.
  • Experience in HR areas such as organizational design, leadership development, change management, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Results-driven with the ability to manage full-cycle projects and deliver on time.
  • Strong problem-solving, initiative, and resourcefulness.
  • Very strong EQ and sound judgment.
  • Experience working with Global Talent across regions; remote experience preferred.
  • Comfortable with high volume, fast-paced workload and ability to switch between strategic and tactical work.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; Master’s or HR certification strongly preferred.
