Contributing to the development of robust and scalable backend systems is the core function of a Bespoke Solutions Developer. We are seeking someone with excellent technical skills who can help drive efficiency through automation. You will collaborate with Senior Engineers, Product Managers, and other stakeholders to design, implement, and maintain applications to optimise processes. Reporting to the Software Engineer Director.
Your primary responsibilities will include :
- Develop Backend Systems : Design, develop, and implement backend systems using appropriate technologies and frameworks (e.g., Python / Django, Java / Spring).
- API Development : Design and develop RESTful APIs to support frontend applications and integrations with other systems.
- Database Management : Work with databases (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) to design schemas, write queries, and optimise performance.
- Testing and Debugging : Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and fix bugs.
- Participate in Agile Development : Engage in Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, daily stand-ups, code reviews) and contribute to process improvements.
- Learn and Grow : Continuously expand your knowledge of Software & Data Engineering.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.At least 2 years of experience in web application development.Expertise in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and at least one modern front-end framework (React preferred).Solid understanding of backend development (Python, PHP, or similar).Experience with RESTful API integration and asynchronous request handling.Proficiency with Linux CLI.Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git.Experience with Integration Platforms & Tools.Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.Proficient in Agile methodologies and project management tools like Jira.Strategic thinking skills to balance short-term needs with long-term growth.Advantageous :
Experience with SQL.Experience with Cloud Engineering / Infrastructure (primarily GCP).Experience with Unit Testing.Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI / CD pipelines.Experience managing or configuring CMSs.Note : We emphasise skills, expertise, and behavioural attributes over years of experience and traditional degrees.
