Responsibilities

  • Software Management : Install, customize, upgrade, and maintain mainframe operating system and third-party software.
  • Problem Resolution : Diagnose, isolate, debug software and system problems, analyze memory dumps, and implement solutions.
  • Performance Tuning : Conduct performance evaluations, system tuning, and capacity planning to maintain optimal performance and meet SLA.
  • Security and Data Integrity : Implement and manage security measures to protect system and data, ensuring database and log integrity.
  • Automation : Develop and implement automation scripts and jobs to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
  • Technical Support & Collaboration : Provide technical support to users, support teams, and clients, collaborating with administrators and programmers to resolve issues.
  • System Upgrades : Plan and execute system-wide hardware and software upgrades, including integration testing of new products.
  • Disaster Recovery : Participate in planning and executing disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
  • Documentation and Training : Create and maintain technical documentation, usage instructions, and training materials for operators and programmers.
  • Monitoring : Monitor system performance, capacity, and security, including database activities and logs.

Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise : Deep knowledge of mainframe operating systems (e.g., z / OS) and associated programming languages.
  • Problem-Solving : Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify root causes and implement solutions effectively.
  • Communication : Ability to communicate technical information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Organizational Skills : Excellent organizational skills for managing complex projects, software installations, and system configurations.
