We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to join our Finance Leadership team as Director : Financial Controller & Treasury. Reporting to the SVP Finance, this pivotal role will lead a team of 20+ professionals with deep experience, and help shift the function toward greater agility, automation, and strategic impact. The role offers the opportunity to modernise core finance operations and build scalable processes that support growth.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of finance at a leading digital commerce business, working closely with an engaged Executive team, a supportive Board, and top-tier Silicon Valley VC investors. As we expand significantly in the coming years, this role will be instrumental in evolving our accounting and treasury functions to support scale, operational excellence, and future-fit processes.
Responsibilities
- Report directly to the SVP Finance and serve as a key contributor to the strategic direction and success of the company.
- Lead, develop, and grow a global team responsible for core Accounting and Treasury operations, with a focus on modernising processes, driving automation, and building a culture of continuous improvement.
- Oversee all accounting functions, ensuring reporting and bookkeeping are accurate, timely, and compliant with all relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Take ultimate responsibility for the company's accounting close processes (monthly, quarterly, and annually), annual audit, and external reporting.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with all relevant standards and laws.
- Develop and implement accounting strategies, analyse accounts, and recommend improvements to reduce costs, maximise profits, and support business growth.
- Provide expertise on industry changes, and guide updates to financial policies, procedures, and internal controls as needed.
- Champion transformation initiatives, including the implementation of new systems and technologies, to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across the finance function.
- Identify and address legacy processes that may hinder growth, proactively implementing best practices aligned with a high-growth, digital-first environment.
- Serve as a key stakeholder in Finance, Tax, and legal entity decisions, ensuring robust governance and risk management.
- Instil confidence in finance operations and controls at the C-level and Board level through strong leadership, transparency, and effective communication.
- Act as an influential leader for the broader business, leveraging knowledge and experience to drive sound business decisions, optimise processes, and identify opportunities for strategic value creation.
- Foster a collaborative, agile, and high-performance culture within the team, supporting professional development and engagement during a period of significant business expansion.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; a current professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, CPA, ACCA) is required.Minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting experience, including significant leadership roles.Experience in accounting in a SaaS or technology-driven business.Proven track record of leading finance teams through periods of significant change, including process reengineering, automation, or digital transformation.Experience working in medium (250+ employees) and large (1,000+ employees) companies, ideally with exposure to high-growth environments.Demonstrated ability to assess and modernise legacy systems and processes, implementing best practices to support scale and efficiency.Experience working closely with, or leading, Treasury operations, including international cash management.Experience with system upgrades, technology implementations, or finance automation projects.Exposure to multinational environments and / or experience working overseas is highly desirable.Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS accounting principles, tax processes, and regulatory requirements.Significant experience as a senior leader in a public company reporting team, including SEC reporting and SOX controls.Deep understanding of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls, with a track record of driving improvements.Highly organized, self-managed, and deadline-oriented, with strong prioritization skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to instill confidence at C-level and Board level.Perks
