Overview
Join Lactalis at our Bonnievale Plant as a Maintenance Manager in the Engineering Department. This role is responsible for overseeing planned and preventative maintenance within the Powder, Butter & Cheese Department, ensuring optimal machine and equipment performance. The successful candidate will lead upgrades and improvements to support production efficiency and meet set productivity targets.
Requirements
- Mechanical / electrical or industrial Engineering degree or N6 / T4
- Government ticket of competency for factories will be an advantage
- At least 5 years post graduate or post qualification job experience in a maintenance environment
- At least 5 year’s experiences in a FMCG maintenance management environment
- Experience in PLC & SCADA will be advantageous
- Experience in NH3 refrigeration and John Thompson Boilers will help you in your day to day responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage planned and preventative maintenance to ensure 98% plant uptime; monitor quality and compliance of completed work orders in line with SLA requirements.Ensure timely procurement of equipment and materials to support maintenance activities.Liaise with external service providers to coordinate resources and support.Plan and schedule maintenance tasks using On Key / Pragma systems and best practices.Prioritize and close job cards efficiently to minimize downtime.Lead continuous upgrades and improvements of service equipment aligned with TRG and TRS goals.Approve designs and upgrades based on operational needs and specifications.Oversee subcontractor compliance with SLA terms and project timelines.Deliver maintenance services in accordance with HACCP, ISO, and NOSA standards.Set and maintain quality standards, guiding the team to consistently meet targets.Budgeting & Planning
Compile and manage operational budgets in collaboration with the Technical Manager.Submit maintenance budgets aligned with strategic objectives.Control unplanned overtime and manpower costs within approved budget limits.Manage maintenance expenses in line with budget parameters.Implement cost-effective systems to monitor and control operating expenditures.Make procurement decisions based on operational needs and cost-efficiency.Manage CAPEX for maintenance services in coordination with the Project Manager.Provide input for upgrades and improvements aligned with good manufacturing practices.Ensure capital expenditure projects are completed within approved budgets and timelines.Ensure full compliance with Lactalis Tender, BEE, and Procurement policies and procedures.Health & Safety, Environment

Manage employee performance to meet operational goals.Monitor and improve wrench time, aiming for 60% physical work against paid hours.Set annual performance agreements with all team members.Conduct formal and informal performance reviews in line with PSA Performance Management Policy.Develop staff and implement succession planning strategies.Create and update Personal Development Plans (PDPs) bi-annually for each team member.Identify skills gaps annually and submit training needs for inclusion in the Lactalis Workplace Skills Plan (WSP).Provide coaching, counselling, and mentoring to support staff development.Recruit staff in accordance with PSA policies, procedures, and authorization charts.Maintain discipline and ensure compliance with company standardSeniority level
