Outbound Sales Development Representative (Remote, South Africa)

Are you a highly motivated and independent individual with a knack for collecting crucial information? We're a fast-moving U.S.-based startup focused on developing data centers to meet the explosive demand for AI infrastructure. We're building a unique advantage by sourcing power availability directly from local utilities across the country—an effort that directly informs where and how we build.

We are looking for a Outbound Sales Development Representative (SDR) based in South Africa to support and scale this critical outreach process. This is a fully remote, offshore position.

The Role

You will be responsible for identifying and contacting utility companies across the United States, building rapport with key contacts, and gathering essential information on power availability. Your work will directly fuel our expansion strategy and save our founder critical time to focus on growing the business. This role is less about "how well someone does" and more about determining if electricity availability exists or not. While some days may not yield immediate results, other days could see you gather information from many contacts.

What You'll Do

  • Make outbound calls to local utilities across the U.S. to gather power availability data.
  • Work with a provided script and decision tree to guide your conversations.
  • Collect information and use research and discerning judgment before and during calls.
  • Build and maintain a structured database of contacts and responses.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with gatekeepers and utility representatives.
  • Follow up consistently to close information loops and ensure pipeline continuity.
  • Work closely with the founder and internal stakeholders to adapt outreach strategies.
  • Manage leads and interactions using our CRM (currently a basic setup; upgrades expected).

What We're Looking For

  • Excellent spoken and written English, with minimal accent.
  • Strong critical thinking and the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Confidence and clarity when speaking with new contacts over the phone.
  • Highly organized with the ability to keep track of your own follow-ups and schedule; this is a true startup environment, so independence is key.
  • Comfortable with the nature of outbound calling, understanding that results can vary day-to-day.
  • Doesn't get deterred by difficult personalities or conversations, even when 30% of interactions may be guarded.
  • Previous experience in outbound sales or lead generation.
  • Self-starter with a “figure it out” attitude.
  • Familiarity with CRMs and remote sales workflows.

  • Quarterly bonus potential equivalent to one month of your salary, based on workload (number of calls made). There is a huge network of people to call, offering ample opportunity for this bonus.
