Applicants are required to meet the following criteria :
- Grade 12 with Accounting and a tax / relevant qualification
- Relevant working experience in a similar role in a tax environment of 5+ years essential
- Registered Tax Practitioner or eligibility to be registered
- Able to interpret and apply the IT Act, Tax Administration Act and Vat Act for various tax related projects
- Able to work meticulously with minimal supervision
- Experience liaising with SARS (proven track record with SARS appointments)
- Working knowledge of SARS dispute resolution process
- Strong knowledge of tax compliance processes and interpretation of tax law
- High level of MS Office literacy including Great Soft experience, SARS E-filing and LexisNexis
The successful applicant would be responsible for, but not limited to :
Assist with : staff supervision; completion of IT returns; provision tax admin; monitoring dispute resolution process; preparation and review of complex tax calculations and returns; completion of SARS response letters; compliance office advise; Great Soft problems in terms of taxConsult / advise client on basic tax queriesCommunicate refund list to partnersOversee admin of SARS related documentationEnsure provisional tax runs monthly and resolve related queriesEnsure delivery of documents, returns and payments to SARSEnsure payments requested are followed up on and all lists are updated and followed by compliance officersAssist with IT dispute resolution and tax exemption applicationsSARS liaison for complex tax queries and updating of banking detailsSARS appointments for all directorsEnsure all tax queries are loggedResponsible for SAIT learners and their relevant trainingMonthly meetings with the tax managerEnsure tax members meet with the respective Directors on unsubmitted listsEnsure compliance with quality management system; code of conduct; HR policiesSalary
