Head of Key Accounts – FMCG (Modern Trade / Retail) | Durban

We are seeking a senior FMCG sales leader with proven expertise in Modern Trade / Retail Key Account Management , based in Durban . This is a non-negotiable location requirement .

You will lead the strategic management and performance of major national retail accounts including Shoprite, SPAR, and Pick n Pay , driving sales, market share, margin, and long-term customer growth.

Your Role

Reporting directly to the Sales Director, you will :

  • Lead and mentor a team of National Key Account Managers focused on the retail channel
  • Own the development and execution of customer investment, pricing, and promotional strategies
  • Drive trade term negotiations and business planning to meet sales and profitability targets
  • Build strong, sustainable strategic relationships with key retail customers
  • Collaborate closely within the Sales Leadership Team to ensure cross-functional alignment and impact

What You Bring

  • Minimum 10 years’ FMCG Key Account experience , with a strong focus on Modern Trade / Retail
  • Strong Personal Care / Home Care / Cosmetics or OTC experience required
  • Proven success leading high-performing sales teams and delivering measurable commercial results
  • Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and analytical skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (BComm or equivalent)
  • Must be based in Durban – this is an absolute requirement
