Are you the kind of data professional who doesn’t just report what happened — but explains why it happened and what should happen next ?
MVIA is seeking a Data and Insights Specialist (Business Intelligence) to join our Strategy, Innovation and Product (SiP) function within the Business Intelligence and Decision Intelligence stream. This role is about transforming complex operational and strategic data into trusted, decision-ready insights that influence leadership thinking, product strategy, performance optimisation, and regulatory outcomes.
This is not a BAU reporting role. It is a strategic, insight-driven position focused on advanced analytics, decision intelligence, and building a single source of truth for the organisation. If you enjoy partnering with senior stakeholders, challenging assumptions, and using data to shape better decisions, this role offers both impact and visibility.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain end-to-end business intelligence solutions, including data models, semantic layers, dashboards, and analytical views.
- Develop standardised, decision-ready dashboards and reports that are transitioned to BAU teams once established.
- Ensure all reporting aligns to single-source-of-truth principles, governed metrics, and consistent definitions.
- Continuously improve the performance, usability, and scalability of BI assets.
- Translate complex business questions into robust analytical models and clear, actionable insights.
- Conduct deep-dive analysis to support strategy, innovation, product performance, risk trends, and executive decision-making.
- Build and maintain sophisticated Excel-based models using advanced capabilities such as Power Query, Power Pivot, dynamic arrays, and complex formulas.
- Identify patterns, trends, and anomalies across insurance and non-insurance datasets.
- Partner closely with senior stakeholders to understand decision needs and present insights through compelling data storytelling and visualisation.
- Act as a trusted thought partner by challenging assumptions and helping the business ask better questions of data.
- Contribute to data governance standards, validation processes, and documentation of data sources, logic, and assumptions.
- Support audit, compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements where applicable.
- Build and enhance dashboards primarily using Qlik Sense and work with SQL-based data sources and data warehouses.
- Collaborate with technology and data engineering teams to improve data pipelines and availability, while staying current with BI best practices.
