Job Description
The company is seeking to employ a Sales Representative for the Laboratory Division, based in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for the sales of laboratory equipment and consumables within the Western Cape region, as well as selected other territories that may be added to this portfolio. Preference will be given to Equity candidates.This position reports to the Regional Sales Manager, Cape TownKey Responsibilities
Service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily customer visitsAchieve sales goals and targets within the assigned territoryDeliver professional sales presentations to customersProvide accurate reporting to management, including call reports, weekly plans, and monthly territory analysisEnter all customer interactions and sales leads into the CRM systemMonitor market trends and competitor activity, including pricing, products, and delivery schedulesEnsure excellent customer satisfaction by providing prompt and professional supportInvestigate and resolve customer complaints with effective solutions and recommendations to managementMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, and networking in the industryMaintain accurate customer and sales recordsBe available for after-hours and weekend work when required (e.g., product training, congresses, or exhibitions)Requirements
Essential / Minimum :
Matric / Grade 12 (non-negotiable)Valid Driver’s License + Reliable TransportSouth African Citizen / Work Permit (if applicable)Preferred / Advantageous :
Degree / Diploma in Science, Medical Technology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field – helps with understanding lab products and speaking the same language as lab staff.Sales / Marketing qualification or certification – e.g., Diploma in Sales and Marketing, short courses in Business Development, Customer Relationship Management, or Sales Strategy.Medical / Laboratory product training certifications (where relevant, e.g., product-specific courses provided by suppliers).Skills and Qualifications
Presentable, professional individual with strong interpersonal skillsA team player with the ability to work independentlyA recognized course in Sales and Marketing will be an advantageAt least 2 years’ experience in sales (preferably within the medical or laboratory industry)Knowledge of the Western Cape sales territory and customer base would be an added advantage.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong computer literacy (CRM experience advantageous)Ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationshipsStrong product knowledge and the ability to learn technical detailsConfident presentation and negotiation skillsCustomer service focus with proven ability to meet sales goals and close dealsTerritory management, prospecting, and motivation for salesHonest, reliable, and able to provide good referencesBenefits
