Transplant Coordinator- Icu Trained Registered Nurse

Overview

The LVAD and ECMO Transplant Coordinator is a critical member of the multidisciplinary team responsible for the comprehensive care of patients with Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs). This role spans pre-implantation evaluation peri-operative management and long-term outpatient follow-up. The coordinator ensures optimal patient outcomes by facilitating education interdisciplinary collaboration and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate pre-implantation evaluation, peri-operative management, and long-term outpatient follow-up for LVAD and ECMO patients.
• Facilitate patient and family education about LVADs / ECMO, care plans, and device management.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaboration among clinical teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies.

Qualifications

Education

Registered Nurse (RN) licensed to practice in SA SANC.

Intensive care qualification and a minimum of 2 years experience in a Cardiothoracic facility.

Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required.

Work experience

Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience; prior experience in cardiovascular care or critical care essential.
