Lab Technician

A Lab Technician/ Technologist opportunity has become available with my esteemed client in Vereeniging. We are looking for young, energetic, and true go-getters. Must have a passion for your industry and be willing to go the extra mile in getting the job done.

SALARY RANGE: R25 (6 x month probation) thereafter R30K (and all benefits come into play. BENEFITS: Medical aid contribution; pension/provident fund; 13th cheque; Profit share.

Minimum qualifications and job requirements:

• Qualified chemical technician/technologist/metallurgist/Ceramicist or similar qualification (degree)
• 2-3 years experience in a similar field
• Valid Drivers license.
• Knowledge and understanding of ISO9001:2015 is an added advantage
• Age range: 22 25 years of age.

Key responsibilities:

• Collect & prepare samples using laboratory apparatus and testing equipment to determine the material characteristics.
• Perform lab analyses as required for each operational phase: drill core, mining, finished product, projects, and new product development work.
• Compile and record testing and operational data for review and further analysis.
• Where applicable, assemble, operate, maintain, and calibrate field and laboratory testing and measuring equipment.
• Generate Certificates (Specification sheets) of Analysis for finished products where applicable.
• Help Production departments to identify & resolve nonconformities
• Participate in quality program objectives and the resolution of quality issues.
• Perform computations, plot data, draw curves, graphs, and charts
• Operate modern analytical instrumentations (XRF, XRD, etc.).
• Effectively communicate to the team to report any non-conformities picked up at the lab.
• Collect samples from production & store them for future comparisons.
• Acts as a quality gatekeeper between Maintenance and Production to ensure all processes are properly followed and materials are manufactured to defined requirements.
