Job description

Job Summary

Collect recycling and general waste material safely and efficiently at designated locations, within a set timeframe.

Responsibilities

Primary duties

  • Loading and unloading goods from vehicles
  • Keeping the vehicle safe and clean
  • Refuel and clean vehicles
  • Using navigation apps to determine the best route
  • Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip
  • Performing daily equipment checks
  • Removing machine attachments and waste material from machines
  • Inspect trucks and complete daily vehicle checklist before departing the yard and notify the Transport Controllers of any issues / defects
  • Drives safely and follow all laws and rules of driving, to maintain a safe and healthy work environment
  • Assist Runners by loading and off-loading material at collection points
  • Count all bags loaded on vehicle
  • Collect, maintain and organize all paperwork and deliver it to the proper personnel at the end of each collection
  • Report and document any accidents or vehicle issues to the Transport Controllers
  • Adhere to all reasonable instructions given by the Transport Controllers
  • Adhere to OHS ACT legislation
  • Adhere to site regulations
  • Keep drivers license up to date

Secondary duties

  • Assist with all ad hoc requests from client
  • Assist with any administrative duties when required
  • Assist with sorting and other general duties if required

    • Requirements

  • Matric / grade 12 or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 1 - 2 years working experience in a similar role
  • Must have a valid Code 14 drivers license and a valid PDP
  • Relevant qualifications and experience, knowledge and skills
  • Clean driving record

    • Employment will be implemented in accordance with the Employment Equity Act.
