A leading player in the defence and security technology sector is looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer to join their Test Engineering Group. This position is ideal for someone with strong expertise in test systems and hardware development within military or avionics environments and who thrives in technically demanding projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the design and integration of advanced test systems contributing to the full lifecycle of test bench development from architectural design to qualification and maintenance support. This is a senior technical role requiring both hands-on engineering and leadership in a collaborative fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to project planning statements of work and labour estimations for test bench development projects
- Derive lower-level hardware requirements for test benches
- Perform high-level architectural design and detailed design and establish manufacturing baselines
- Lead scheduling procurement and assembly processes
- Coordinate mechanical design and assembly drawings
- Oversee and participate in integration testing and qualification of test benches
- Maintain documentation in line with development processes
- Manage configuration and version control baselines
- Provide fault-finding repair and maintenance support on test benches
Knowledge & Skills
Proficiency with National Instruments and other general test equipmentExperience with MW and RF-related test equipmentUnderstanding of signal integrity concepts between test equipment and units under testStrong background in electronic hardware designSchematic capture and PCB layout experience is advantageousC# development experience is beneficialExcellent communication skills and the ability to lead technical teamsAbility to multitask and work effectively in a group-oriented development environmentCompetencies
Experience in engineering and testing proceduresStrong understanding of electronic circuits and equipment functionsFault-finding and repair capabilitiesRequirements analysis and writing skillsTest systems architectural and hardware design expertiseDigital and analogue electronic design experienceProven technical leadership experienceQualifications & Experience
BEng (Electronics) or equivalent qualificationMinimum 5 years in test equipment and unit test integrationMinimum 10 years in test system development and electronic circuit designRequired Experience :
