Job Title : Assistant Manager - Retail Store (Grocery)

Location : Must be residing within the Humansdorp, Jeffrey's Bay Area

Salary : R15,000 - R18,000 per month

Job Description : We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team at a busy grocery retail store. The successful candidate will assist the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining high standards of store presentation and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist the Store Manager in daily operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Supervise and support store staff, ensuring they adhere to company policies and provide excellent customer service.
  • Manage inventory levels, including ordering, receiving, and stocking products.
  • Ensure the store is clean, well-organized, and visually appealing.
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Monitor sales performance and assist in developing strategies to achieve sales targets.
  • Conduct regular staff training and development sessions.
  • Assist in scheduling staff shifts and managing payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Perform daily retail tasks such as cash-ups, staff timesheets, and administrative duties.
  • Oversee all employees and supervise the sales floor, including merchandising, price labels, and stock rotation.
  • Provide assistance in other departments when needed, such as receiving, front end, and office tasks.

Qualifications :

  • Previous experience in a retail management role, preferably in a grocery store.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in business or retail management is a plus.
