Senior Audit Manager : Commercial Banking

The purpose of GIA is to provide independent, objective assurance to the Nedbank Group Limited Board of Directors via the Group Audit Committee that the governance processes, management of risk and systems of internal control are adequate and effective to mitigate the risks that threaten the achievement of the Group’s strategy and key objectives.
GIA receives its authority from the Group Audit Committee (GAC), which is a committee of the Board of Nedbank Group Limited established to review the work of Internal Audit of Nedbank Group Limited and its subsidiaries.
Job Purpose
To provide strategic leadership and guidance to teams by providing independent assurance of the control environment to the Nedbank Group Audit Committee and ensuring effective risk management practices are implemented across Nedbank.
Role Responsibilities
The Senior Audit Manager shall be accountable for :
- Supporting periodic assessments of internal audit work to governing bodies
- Supporting reporting on the overall effectiveness of governance, risk, and internal control frameworks
- Complying with regulatory and corporate governance expectations of internal audit functions
- Reporting significant issues related to controlling activities of the Group
- Maintaining professional audit staff with knowledge, skills, experience, and qualifications to meet audit plan requirements
- Having a robust process to follow-up on management’s agreed actions to address issues
- Delivering measurable performance of the portfolio, including assistance in audit plan delivery
- Providing an overall audit opinion on the system of internal financial controls of the Group
- Maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Institute of Internal Audit, SARB, External Audit, and Business Executives
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in commerce or sciencesHonours degree in commerce or sciencesPreferred Qualification
Master’s degree in commerce or sciencesMinimum Experience Level
6 – 8 years’ financial services experience in credit and risk management2 – 4 years’ experience in a senior managerial position2 – 4 years’ experience leading and managing diverse teamsUnderstanding of credit, operational, market, and liquidity riskTechnical / Professional Knowledge
