About The Organisation And The Role

The SSD is a division of the CSO Cape Town, a community-based security and medical response organisation. They are looking for a responsible security officer to ensure that their assigned site provides a safe, secure and well-maintained environment for the activities of pupils and employees, and to ensure that all physical and personnel security aspects are managed, well-maintained and repaired in a timely fashion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Access control for location – pedestrian and vehicle.
  • Securing premises and personnel by patrolling property and monitoring surveillance equipment.
  • Inspections of buildings, equipment and access points.
  • Maintenance of the occurrence book.

Employment Details

Permanent, Cape Town. Hours of work : shift cycle rotation, including both weekdays and weekends. Salary range : commensurate with skill and experience.

    • Required Skills & Experience

  • Work experience and industry exposure.
  • Matric qualification essential; relevant tertiary qualification advantageous.
  • At least 3–5 years’ experience in a security position.
  • Experience in a security environment essential with a minimum PSIRA Grade C with up-to-date certification.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to compile reports and manage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to stay level-headed in stressful situations and work under pressure.
  • Able to interact with individuals of all ages and cultures in a clear and respectful manner.
  • Excellent administration and organisational skills.
  • Team-oriented with a calm disposition and initiative.
  • General : valid firearm competency advantageous; driver’s licence advantageous.
  • Computer literacy : Microsoft Outlook & Word; basic CCTV knowledge.
  • Clean criminal record and sound physical health; willingness to submit to an organisational fitness assessment.
