Job description

Overview

Our client, who provides ERP and BI solutions to clients in both the private sector (pension fund administration) and public sector (local government) is looking for an AI Developer to join their fully remote team .

Key Responsibilities

AI Automation & Integrations

  • Design and implement AI-driven automation to improve financial processes (e.g., reconciliations, anomaly detection, fraud / irregular expenditure alerts).
  • Build intelligent chatbots / virtual assistants that provide users with ERP guidance, policy references, and financial insights.
  • Integrate AI services into existing ERP workflows, ensuring scalability, performance, and compliance .

Machine Learning & Data Engineering

  • Develop ML models for forecasting, anomaly detection, natural language processing, and predictive analytics.
  • Work with structured (financial transactions, mSCOA) and unstructured data (documents, reports).
  • Ensure models align with South African regulatory frameworks (MFMA, mSCOA, AGSA audit requirements) .

    • Software Engineering

  • Collaborate with our .NET / Angular / MS SQL development teams to embed AI services into ERP modules.
  • Deploy AI solutions via APIs, microservices, or embedded components.
  • Optimise performance of AI workloads for on-premise and cloud deployments.

    • Innovation & Strategy

  • Advise leadership on AI adoption strategies and emerging technologies.
  • Drive proof-of-concepts (e.g., AI-driven dashboards, document interrogation tools, citizen engagement chatbots).
  • Mentor junior developers on AI best practices.

    • Core Skills & Competencies

    AI / ML Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of ML algorithms, NLP, anomaly detection, and time-series forecasting.
  • Experience with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn.
  • Knowledge of LLMs and AI Agents (OpenAI, Hugging Face, RAG architectures, vector databases).

    • Programming & Engineering

  • Proficiency in Python (for AI / ML) and C# / .NET, Node.js, or Java for ERP integrations.
  • Experience with API design, microservices, and containerization (Docker / Kubernetes) .
  • Strong SQL skills, particularly with MS SQL Server .

    • ERP & Financial Domain

  • Experience in financial systems, ERP solutions, or municipal / public sector IT.
  • Familiarity with South African frameworks : mSCOA, MFMA, compliance (advantageous).

    • Data & Cloud

  • Knowledge of ETL pipelines, data warehouses, and BI tools (Power BI) .
  • Familiarity with cloud AI platforms (Azure AI, AWS Sagemaker, Google Vertex AI).

    • Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to translate technical AI concepts into business value .
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration and stakeholder engagement

    • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in computer science , AI / ML Enginering, Data Science, or related field .
  • 5+ years’ experience in software development, with at least 3 years in AI / ML senior roles.
  • Prior experience integrating AI into ERP / enterprise financial systems preferred.
  • Certifications in AI / ML (Microsoft Azure AI Engineer, TensorFlow, etc.) are an advantage.
