Applicants are required to meet the following criteria :
- Grade 12 with at least 2 years experience in a supervisory role within a forestry environment
- A relevant tertiary qualification would be an advantage and must be fluent in Xhosa
- Must be organized and systematic and able to use initiative
- Must be willing to work additional hours as and when required
- Required skill set; Supervision, Coaching, Managing Processes, Process Improvement, Tracking Expenses, Production Planning, Dealing with Complexity
The s uccessful applicant would be responsible for, but not limited to :
Supervise production staff / ensure that they adhere to production procedures & production targets metRecord daily production performance schedule and report to the relevant peopleSupervise the use of company property and equipment under your controlEnsure that all equipment have logbooks / checklists and they are completed as per the company standardEnsure the timely maintenance of company equipment under your controlQuality controlEnsure the correct log lengths optimisation is achieved, and correct colour code and numbering systemEnsure correct processing is done for each logAssist in production procedures when required, i.e. : log marking, operating machines, etcAccurate completion of staff time sheets on a weekly basisApply corrective disciplinary procedures, fairly and in a progressive mannerMonitor and report buffer stock every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning before 9amMonitor the age of timber stacks and report if timber is 3 weeks or olderEnsure that all safety standards and procedures are adhered to by the team under your supervisionOperate machinery when requiredEnsure back-up operators are trained and ready at all timesMaintain staff by recruiting, selecting and training employees, developing personal growth opportunitiesEnsure operators and safety personnel are certified at all timesSalary : Market related
