Draughtsperson

The CAD Draughtsman is a key technical role responsible for producing accurate, high-quality CAD designs in accordance with customer specifications, company standards, and applicable safety and IEC regulations. The role requires strong attention to detail, solid technical knowledge of electrical, PLC, and instrumentation systems, and a commitment to quality control. In addition to drafting and design, the CAD Draughtsman plays an active role in testing, document control, and client collaboration, ensuring solutions are technically sound, compliant, and customer-focused. Key Responsibilities Site Readiness & Compliance Ensure readiness for on-site work, including medical fitness, required PPE, and completion of site-specific training Comply with all safety, risk, and method statement requirements CAD Design & Drafting Produce detailed and accurate electrical, instrumentation, and network drawings aligned with customer specifications Design in accordance with company standards , ensuring consistency and quality across all outputs Perform clarification, redlining, and revision updates to drawings as required Conduct site tracing of existing panels and update drawings to reflect actual installations Quality Control & Testing Conduct quality control inspections and testing of designs and electrical panels Ensure compliance with Quality Control Procedures (QCPs), IEC standards, and industry best practices Maintain and update QCP documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance Document Control Manage, control, and maintain all project-related documentation Ensure drawings and records are accurate, organized, traceable, and accessible Client & Sales Engagement Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to understand client requirements Participate in initial project meetings and provide technical input Support proposal development, project scoping, timeline estimation, and cost estimation Project Coordination Ensure work complies with company project management standards Coordinate with internal teams and subcontractors to meet project timelines and deliverables Safety, Risk & Method Statements Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and industry standards throughout project phases Conduct risk assessments and implement appropriate safety measures Prepare, maintain, and adhere to detailed method statements Qualifications Certificate, Diploma, or Associate Degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering CAD or Drafting Technology AutoCAD Electrical EPLAN Experience 2–5 years relevant CAD drawing experience Preferred Skills & Competencies Communication Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Problem Solving & Analytical Thinking Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities Capable of identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions Teamwork & Collaboration Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams Willing to support colleagues and share technical knowledge Adaptability & Flexibility Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Able to manage changing priorities and deadlines Attention to Detail High level of accuracy in drawings and documentation Ability to identify errors or inconsistencies in designs and systems Time Management & Organization Strong planning and prioritization skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines Customer Focus Strong commitment to meeting client and stakeholder needs Ability to build and maintain professional relationships Initiative & Continuous Learning Self-motivated with a proactive mindset Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry trends
