Who are we?

Sanlam Developing Markets (SDM)(a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanlam Life Limited) is one of the top financial services providers in the South African entry-level and emerging middle market. It aims to understand the unique requirements of clients and offers a wide range of simple and affordable financial solutions that cover needs such as funeral insurance, savings for education, life cover and personal accident plans. In terms of the Sanlam Group Governance Policy, SDM is managed by the SA Retail Mass cluster, which is part of the Sanlam Life and Savings cluster within the Sanlam Group. The cluster focuses on retail products, as well as group schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gain and maintain an in-depth understanding of SRM product ranges.
  • Understand customer needs, financial goals, and means; provide suitable products that meet their goals affordably.
  • Update customers on new or changed products; manage the implications on their portfolios.
  • Validate client details according to product and regulatory requirements; submit new business through appropriate channels.
  • Conduct due diligence to identify and flag risks.
  • Manage capacity to prioritize appointments and handle walk-in clients.

2. In-branch client service and client retention

  • Service and manage client profiles to ensure retention, including sending reminders, follow-ups, and support.
  • Manage NTUs by implementing controls and corrective actions.
  • Maintain persistency of client payments.
  • Understand client risk profiles to proactively support them.
  • Assist clients with policy cancellations and alternative options, resolving queries or escalating as needed.
  • 3. Quality, compliance and continuous development

  • Adhere to compliance and quality standards.
  • Maintain registration, product knowledge, and CPD points.
  • Identify and flag risks and fraudulent activities.
  • Keep records of advice and activities for compliance and reporting.
  • 4. Monthly planning and reporting

  • Report activities daily using relevant platforms.
  • Compile data for weekly and monthly reports.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as requested by the Branch Manager.
  • Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • RE5 advantageous
  • FAIS Compliant (Wealth Management) as per DOFA requirements
  • Class of Business training (to be completed within 12 months)
  • Knowledge and Experience
