  • BEng or BSc (Mechanical or Electrical or Statistics)
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience in data analysis
  • A passion for data analysis and BI visualisation
  • Interest and skill in BI visualisations and aesthetic design of technical data
  • Highly skilled in MS Excel

    Job Description

    As a Senior Data Manager, you will lead how data drives strategy, growth, and performance across a dynamic group of companies. This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll turn complex commercial, customer, and industry data into clear insights that influence decision-making at the highest level.

    You’ll own the data vision—building modern platforms (data warehouse, data lake, cloud), driving innovation with AI / ML, and ensuring data is secure, scalable, and business-ready. Working closely with executives and stakeholders, you’ll influence strategy through data.

    This role includes building and developing a data team, leading the full data lifecycle, and introducing tools and technologies that unlock new value for the business.

    Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of data professionals (Data Analysts, Data Engineers) with a focus on continuous learning and innovation
  • Structure the team and mentor members to enhance skills and knowledge-sharing
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development of a high-performing data team
  • Collaborate with Commercial, Operations, and Sales to translate data needs into actionable solutions
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Ensure the data strategy supports long-term objectives in energy trading, customer behaviour analysis, and pricing strategies
  • Integrate and manage diverse data types (commercial, customer, industry data including meter readings and energy consumption metrics)
  • Oversee end-to-end data integration, modelling, and analysis to ensure seamless data flow
  • Harmonise data sources to create actionable insights
  • Lead development of data models and algorithms for real-time and historical data
  • Develop predictive models and analytical frameworks for market trends and demand forecasting
  • Collaborate with Commercial Analysts and Product Owners to implement pricing and forecasting algorithms
  • Own and optimise the data warehouse and data lake architectures for scalability and performance
  • Integrate diverse datasets into data environments with emphasis on quality and accessibility
  • Leverage Microsoft Fabric and related technologies for efficient processing and real-time analytics
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and BI reports for senior leadership
  • Present data-driven insights clearly to support decision-making
  • Define KPIs and metrics to measure performance and guide strategy
  • Ensure data governance, security, and regulatory compliance

  • Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) to identify and mitigate risks

    What you’ll need

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Information Technology, Law, MIS, Information Management, or related field
  • Certifications such as CIPP or CIPM are advantageous
  • Experience

  • 3-5 years in financial services supporting data privacy / regulatory programmes, or equivalent compliance exposure
  • Experience across multiple business units in a matrixed environment preferred
  • Skills & Expertise

  • Deep understanding of data privacy regulatory requirements (POPIA, PAIA, LTIA, PPR)
  • Knowledge of privacy-by-design and PIAs
  • Understanding of data sharing frameworks and consent management
  • Awareness of AI governance and privacy intersections
