The Role
As a Cloud Engineer, you’ll be responsible for provisioning and maintaining Electrum’s production cloud systems. You will work with Engineering to ensure production requirements are met and that monitoring and alerting feedback loops for critical infrastructure are continuously improved. You’ll help improve incident response handling and may be involved in project management, vendor engagements, and customer implementations of new software products or applications. You’ll have access to training and education allowances to further your skill set and gain deep knowledge of payments technology and cloud capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Deployment, automation, management, and maintenance of AWS cloud-based production systems
- Ensuring availability, performance, security, and scalability of AWS production systems
- Managing and administering Linux environments
- Evaluation of new technology alternatives and vendor products
- System troubleshooting and problem resolution across the cloud infrastructure stack
- Provision of critical system security by leveraging best practices and cloud security solutions
- Providing recommendations for architecture and process improvements
- Implementation of security protocols by evaluating business strategies and requirements
- Maintenance and management of tools for automation of operational processes
- Definition, deployment and management of metrics, logging, monitoring and alerting
- Updating knowledge by tracking emerging practices and standards; participating in educational opportunities and professional bodies
Requirements
Minimum of 3+ years’ experience working with AWS infrastructure in a DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering roleBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)AWS Certifications beneficial (e.g. AWS Certified SysOps Administrator)Experience in Java or a similar object-oriented programming language is beneficialStrong experience with Linux system administration (preferably RHEL)Proficiency with AWS services including EC2, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, SSM, and related infrastructureUnderstanding of Kubernetes and hands-on experience with kubectl, OpenLens, and Argo CDExperience with automation and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, AWS SSM)Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts and tools (AWS CDK or CloudFormation)Understanding of networking fundamentals and AWS networking componentsExperience with monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)Awareness of cloud cost drivers and strategies for cost monitoring and optimization in AWSFamiliarity with cloud security best practicesBenefits
