Senior Field Engineer (Instrumentation)

About the Role

Based in Mogalakwena Mine, Mokopane, South Africa. The Senior Field Engineer will provide field engineering services, primarily in the mining, metals, and heavy industries, at customer sites. The Senior Field Engineer is a 2.13.3.1 appointment in terms of MHSA. The role requires a high degree of competence in instrumentation used in highly automated plants.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering

• Frequently, and pro-actively communicates and interfaces with customers’ engineering and technical teams to discuss Company Engineering capabilities, customer applications / requirements and coordinate project activities.
• Possessed a broad knowledge of controls, power conversion, automation, data analytics and their application to the industries, equipment and customers that the Company serves.
• Demonstrates strong project management independently, or in cooperation with others, to diligently collect information to form cost estimates, labor estimates, contingency plans, materials and supply chain lead times, prioritization and resource availability.
• Proficient at collecting voice of the customer intelligence and translating the information into actionable plans and results.
• Stays up to date on current technologies in the industry as well as emerging technologies and trends.
• Research and conduct competitive analysis, including pricing and product, of solutions offered by key competitors and customers in the local market.
• Assist in overall product strategies and product roadmaps based on local markets.
• Own and develop product requirements / enhancements / functional specification by working with customers, field service engineering, sales, and other associated product stakeholders.
• Well-versed in problem-solving, RCA and project management principles from training and experience.
• Develops and maintains local service engineering processes and standards.
• Prioritizes respective engineering group’s projects and manages category pipeline.
• Actively assist in promoting the Company and the Company Service Engineering, and selling to customers, partners, and others
• Play a critical role in defining the overall product and growth strategy, by partnering with Business Development and Product Management.
• Coordinate and execute new product introductions with other functional departments through Stage Gate Process and / or the Company commercialization process.
• Demonstrates proficiency in planning and managing departmental budgets and project costs.
• Execute work in effective and efficient ways to best serve customers and attain corporate regional and goals.
• Key contact for Corporate R&D teams, globally.
• Appreciate and demonstrate the Company's Core Values and Principles, and Corporate Mission.
