Job description

A large Food Manufacturing Plant situated in City Deep Johannesburg is seeking a qualified chicken plant production supervisor with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in a Food Manufacturing environment, working directly on the line and support production teams.

Requirements :

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a Food Manufacturing environment, working directly on the line and support production teams
  • Overall Understanding in :

o Food processing equipment and food processing knowledge.

o Good knowledge of HACCP; GMP; and food related practices

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • High attention to detail
  • Good ability to implement and maintain systems.
  • Good physical Health, Assertive, Dedicated
  • Continuous visibility and hands on approach
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate
  • Responsibilities :

    Make sure Production Plan is executed :

  • Achieve weekly production targets and maintain a stable workforce.
  • Recruit, train, and effectively allocate staff to meet operational requirements.
  • Ensure machinery operates at optimal rates and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor production progress through review meetings and hourly recordings.
  • Adjust operations as needed to meet production schedules.
  • Manufacture Product on Specification :

  • Train staff on quality assurance procedures and ensure adherence to process controls.
  • Maintain minimal customer complaints and ensure product specifications are met.
  • Safety and Housekeeping :

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance.
  • Communication and Leadership :

  • Effectively communicate plant instructions, policies, and organizational updates.
  • Manage manpower levels to meet production requirements.
  • Train, motivate, and lead staff to achieve performance goals.
  • Provide continuous on-the-job training and ensure annual training plans are completed
  • Discipline

  • Enforce company policies and procedures, including disciplinary codes.
  • Address and resolve employee performance and conduct issues.
  • Conduct disciplinary hearings and take appropriate corrective action in accordance with company guidelines and labour laws.
  • Maintain accurate records of disciplinary actions and investigations.
  • Promote a culture of accountability and respect within the team.
