Job description

As a Technical Buyer , youll play a vital role in ensuring the seamless sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of mechanical, electrical, and automation components that keep operations running efficiently. This role calls for someone who thrives in a technical, high-precision manufacturing environment and can turn complex engineering needs into cost-effective procurement strategies.

What Youll Do :

  • Manage the full procurement cycle for technical and engineering materials, components, and spare parts.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to understand technical specifications and ensure optimal sourcing solutions.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships across local and international markets.
  • Lead price negotiations , supplier evaluations, and cost-reduction initiatives to drive value and efficiency.
  • Analyse procurement data, forecast material requirements, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all procurement activities align with company policies, quality standards, and compliance requirements .
  • Support import logistics for international orders and coordinate with freight and customs partners when required.

What Youll Bring : Education :

  • Diploma or BCom Degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical) preferred.

    • Experience :

  • 58 years experience as a Technical Buyer within an industrial equipment or manufacturing environment .
  • Strong understanding of vacuum systems, compressors, pumps, automation, or related engineering products (advantageous).
  • Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier development, and cost control.

    • Technical Skills :

  • ERP systems : SAP, Syspro, or Sage (advantageous).
  • Strong MS Excel and data analytics ability.
  • Understanding of import / export processes, customs duties, and Incoterms .

    • Traits & Competencies :

  • Technically astute with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong negotiator who can balance cost, quality, and lead times.
  • Excellent communicator with cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Assertive, proactive, and solutions-oriented thinker.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
