The successful candidate will join Investec's Tax & Fiduciary Advisory team, a specialist, high-performance unit within Investec Private Bank and Investec Wealth & Investment International.The team provides high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners with bespoke, intergenerational tax and estate planning solutions — both domestically and cross border.The scope of work includes tax-efficient structuring, exchange control planning, global estate and succession strategies, and fiduciary advice. As a Cross-Border Tax Advisor, you will deliver high-quality tax advice across both South African and international contexts. You will play a leadership role in structuring engagements, contributing to internal technical development, and maintaining the highest standard of tax output.Your responsibilities will include :
Delivering domestic and cross-border tax advice to high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners.Preparing and signing technical memoranda, planning reports, and tax opinions.Liaising with clients, family offices, legal advisors, and external tax experts.Providing technical mentorship.Leading client engagements with HNW and UHNW individuals, families, family offices, and corporates.Contributing to the team's thought leadership through training, technical updates, and written insights.Liaising with the Technical Committee and contributing to internal technical training, toolkits, articles and newsletters.Identifying structuring opportunities aligned with Investec's broader client strategy, including entrenching the client and relationship deepening.Experience, skills and capability
LLB, BAcc, BCom Law, Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification.Postgraduate diploma in tax or international tax law is essential.Experience in corporate tax or restructuring is advantageous but not essential.Minimum 10 years' experience in tax advisory with demonstrable exposure to international private client work.Proven ability to sign off complex tax advice and assume technical responsibility for structuring output.Strong working knowledge of SA tax, global tax frameworks and double taxation agreements.Experience working with high-net-worth individuals, multi-jurisdictional families, and / or family office structures.Excellent drafting, research, and analytical skills.Client-focused, with the ability to balance precision with practical execution.Confident presenter and advisor, comfortable engaging with both clients and peers.Comfortable operating in a high-accountability, relationship-driven environment.Accounting / Financial Services jobs
