The Machine Shop department has a vacancy for a dedicated Quality Controller. This role is responsible for conducting quality inspections and ensuring that all work complies with the relevant technical specifications, industry standards, and project requirements. This role is further aimed at ensuring the highest levels of quality and precision in our machining processes, components, and finished products. The successful candidate will be required to :
- Inspect the quality and dimensions of all incoming raw materials; allocate to specific work orders and report any concerns
- Inspection of all tooling, gauges and measuring equipment; ensuring that it is correctly calibrated and used
- Identify, report and complete non-conformances, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
- Ensure that every product produced is of high quality and conforms to specifications and drawings
- Monitor quality, accuracy and efficiency of teams work in terms of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies and report any issues or possible improvements required to Manager
- Direct, mentor, coach and guide staff and assist with correcting any performance and quality concerns
- Drive continuous quality improvements on the shop floor
- Maintain all inspection documentation, including job cards, deviation reports, and quality records
- Assist in developing and refining standard QC procedures and SOPs
- Uphold ISO and internal quality system requirements
- Any other tasks or adhoc duties, as agreed with the Manager, suited to this role
Qualifying Experience :
Minimum of at least 5 years of Dedicated QC experience in a precision engineering or machining environmentMinimum 10 years post trade test working experience in a manufacturing / engineering / production environmentStrong knowledge of machining tolerances, drawings (GD&T), and inspection tools (e.g. micrometres, verniers, height gauges).Experience with cast iron and large, heavy components will be an advantageWorking knowledge of OHSAExcellent computer skills (MS Office)Good written, verbal and listening skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnelValid Driver’s license and own reliable transportHave expertise on material characteristicsQualifying Attributes :
