Job Grading : C Upper

The Supervisor Health & Safety is accountable for partnering with operational leadership and their teams to assess the application, completeness and quality of operational health and safety management systems, processes, policies, procedures and standards. The incumbent is responsible to collaboratively develop plans and interventions with operational teams to ensure compliance with prescribed regulations, operational standards and campaigns to ensure optimal and sustainable application of the safety management system.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Degree / National Diploma in Health and Safety Management or equivalent qualification
- COMSOC 1 and 2 Certification
- A relevant Trade Certificate (Engineering)
- At least 3 years’ appropriate trackless mining experience
- In-depth knowledge of knowledge of the Mine Health & Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996)
- Be in possession of valid driver’s license, Code 08 (EB)
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

Convene, lead and participate in various Safety meetings, forums and engagementsAttend Safety Department briefing and task activity sessions to represent area of accountability and act as a conduit for escalation and / or onward cascading of key safety management initiativesParticipate in the development, planning and roll‑out of various on‑site safety initiatives, campaigns, etc. and monitor implementation in area of accountability taking remedial actions as required to maintain momentumDraft, collate and present relevant safety topics for cascading through area of accountabilityConduct scheduled and ad hoc safety inspections and compile safety, risk assessment and audit reports for presentation and / or submission to operational leadership and the Safety Department highlighting any areas of good safety practice application and / or concernDesign, present and / or source safety awareness, training and coaching material / courses for operational training and awareness and, building operational team self‑sufficiency to manage the Safety environmentSchedule, conduct and participate in regular Safety Management System application, compliance and quality assessments and assume accountability for listing and monitoring corresponding actions and close outs in areas of accountabilityConduct, facilitate and / or participate in regular operational risk assessment exercises including the facilitation of bow‑tie analysis, etc. and maintain appropriate risk management schedules against which to measure operational controls, mitigation measures, etc.Conduct and participate in assigned accident or incident investigation (ICAM and RCAT) and assume accountability for listing and monitoring corresponding actions and close outs in areas of accountabilityLiaise with internal and external stakeholders on safety related mattersClosing Date : 07 November 2025
