Job Summary

Sulzer is looking for an experienced Advance Applications & Solutions Engineer, to lead and develop engineering strategies on complex multi-disciplinary retrofit & new business projects where a high level of bespoke, customer-focused, engineering is required. Lead and develop innovative engineering solutions for retrofits, tenders and the wider engineering fraternity associated with applicable product lines

In this role, you will be accountable for

• Lead, coordinate, and support on advance engineering activities on local / regional retrofit and projects requiring complex customer and / or supplier interfacing.
• Supporting strategies defined by the business.
• Undertake responsibility for hydraulic selection, design, processing and supporting activities for African Retrofit market & develop Tender selections.
• Development of bespoke solutions, when necessary, to ensure designs are fit for purpose from an application and hydraulic design perspective, liaising with applicable experts as required.
• Instruct, direct and supervise on technical matters for the allocated team(s).
• Provide technical guidance on prospective opportunities by guiding clients and end-users on the various available solution within the applicable product lines.
• Attend Kick-off, Client, and Operational review meetings, to ensure full understanding of the work scope and to assist in planning of Project Milestones.
• Create Engineering based pricing for large project, tenders, and retrofits.
• Conduct customer site visits as required to support sales, business development, investigations and troubleshooting activities.
• Oversee the certification of all drawings and technical data (including vendor drawings and data) issued to the customer.
• Undertake market / competitor intelligence activities when on site to develop and improve Sulzer solutions and offerings.
• Create, review and approval of technical reports as required.
• Support on failure investigations and Root Cause Failure Analysis for SPZA and EUA Engineering as required.
• Identifying trend and acting to eliminate root causes in non-conformance and warranties where there is a technical element.
• Proactively engage and support company initiatives designed to promote a culture of safe working, environmental protection, and continual improvement.
• All other duties as relevant to the postDevelop, implement and maintain SD&L development objectives for compliance to company objectives.
• Drive BBBEE transformation for the business related to enterprise development and supplier development, relating to preferential procurement without increasing costs or reducing quality.
• All other duties relevant to the role.
