Position Purpose
As a Senior Income Tax specialist to the Afrocentric Group, you will be required to ensure that the Group is compliant for Income Tax purposes. You will be required to provide technical advice and assist the Group Advanced Tax Specialist in improving the tax management framework and policy. You will also be required to assist with dispute resolution and Ad-hoc queries from SARS as well as assist with our monthly, quarterly, interim and year end reporting. This role focuses on accurate tax reporting, timely submissions and strategic tax planning to optimize tax positions and mitigate risks.
Experience
- Minimum 4 - 6 years’ work related experience in a consulting or corporate environment.
- Experience with tax software and financial systems is advantageous.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field.Masters Degree in Taxation is advantageous.Professional Membership

Position Specific Outputs
Manage the process surrounding the year-end and interim tax audit and assist with the review of the tax packs for internal and external reporting.Plan for the audit and resolve issues timeously.Review the tax computations for annual financial statement purposes and the related disclosures and ensure they are accurate and complete.Ensure that the Group’s returns (VAT and Income Tax) are filed timeously and that payments are made on time.Ensure that all tax reporting deadlines for internal and external reporting are met (ie monthly, quarterly, at interim and at year-end).Draft responses to SARS audits are timeously and ensure that they are attended to.Liaise with SARS and ensure that SARS queries, ADR's, outstanding matters are followed up timeously.Ensure that all tax risks are identified and brought to the attention of the Advanced Group Specialist.Ensure that the company is compliant with all the tax regulations including amongst others VAT and Income Tax.Work with the Group’s Advanced tax specialist to implement actions necessary to mitigate the risk and increase the level of assurance in the tax function.Keep up to date with changes in the tax legislation and ensure that these changes are communicated with the relevant stakeholders.Provide specialist advise on tax projects implemented by the Group (ie corporate restructurings and ad-hoc projects).Provide training to the Group.Assist the Group Advanced Tax Specialist with implementing Tax strategies and policies to create tax efficiencies in the Group.Generic Objectives
Assist business with developing annual tax budgets and providing business with consolidated tax figures.Analyse tax variances in individual cost centres and business units and investigate reasons for movements, amend where required and provide commentary where the variance is still significant.Provide guidance and suggestions to business units on actions to be taken to improve the tax results.Review the tax journals processed and ensure that they accurate and completed timeously.Ensure adherence to standard budget operating procedures among business units.Process and update required management accounting reports as it relates to the tax figures.Provide specialist tax support on the organisations projects.Prepare reconciliations accurately and within deadlines.Ensure that adequate knowledge regarding specialization is shared as required and maintained within the research library.Maintain, develop and implement specialist knowledge within the day to day operations of the organisation.Provide specialist input and recommendations to improve the efficiencies, compliance and quality objectives related to the area of specialization.Be proactive and identify areas of improvement, develop and propose solutions to present to appropriate leaders or stakeholders.Ensure day to day operational support required from area of specialization is provided to enhance performance.Implement practical solutions to operational areas that require improvement.Cost Containment
Support the identification, development, and implementation of cost‑effective processes to increase efficiency and reduce cost drivers related to area of specialization.Network Key Relationships
Establish good working relationships with various stakeholders in different business units.Specialist Support to Projects
Produce financial forecasts and provide assistance and guidance where required as it relates to the area of specialization.Provide specialist expertise and ensure best practice related to specialization is implemented in projects, when required.Conform to project management disciplines when participating in projects.Represent department or project on appropriate committees related to area of specialization.Knowledge
A sound understanding of the legislation and an ability to interpret its requirements and apply them to the Afrocentric Group.Skill
