Job descriptionABET level 3 or NQF level 1 to 3 with no experience. Physically fit and be able to hear and speak clearly. Perform hard physical tasks e.g. pushing heavy linen trolleys to and from the linen area and wards. Perform basic routine tasks in the linen area under supervision. Ability to sort, sluice and count dirty and fouled linen. Knowledge of stock and infection control procedures. Willing to work weekends, public holidays and overtime. Possess physical strength and cope with physical demands of the post. Maintain a safe and clean working environment in line with health and safety standards. Collect linen from relevant depots and wards. Keep an accurate record of linen collected and returned to relevant units. Follow the basic procedural guidelines in preparing disinfecting linen for wash. Follow the basic procedure guide lines for washed and cleaned linen. Keep linen in a good state by by inspecting, mending and marking linen. Be able to operate various machines in the laundry (i.e. washing, dryer ironing and pressers). Iron, fold count and pack laundered items and seal linen bags. Collect and deliver linen to the wards / clinical areas. Sort, count and record dirty linen. Do all laundry responsibilities as directed by the supervisor. Report any machine defects and defaults to the Supervisor. Maintain laundry equipment / machines. Monitor equipment temperature. Keep laundry equipment in a proper state. Check and request equipment service. Hospitality / Hotel / Restaurant jobs
