Patient Care Tech (CNA) - Same Day Surgery / PACU (PRN)

Location : St. George Hospital – St. George, Utah

Department / Unit : Same Day Surgery / PACU

Pay : Starting at $18.22+ (based on experience) / Base pay range $18.00 / hr - $23.00 / hr

Schedule : PRN | As needed | 12-hour shifts

Shifts : M-F day / evening hours; varied shifts start as early as 0500

Benefits : Not eligible for benefits

Responsibilities

  • Serve as both a Patient Care Tech (PCT) and Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) under the direction of licensed professionals and nursing leadership.
  • Provide clinical support by performing tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional.
  • Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients; respond to patient and family requests with excellent service.
  • Report and document patient care findings in a timely manner; monitor patient condition and seek qualified assistance as needed.
  • May be responsible for telemetry duties on certain units.
  • Collaborate with the RN and interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care; perform non-nursing duties as delegated (e.g., cleaning, stocking, answering phones, clerical support, providing directions).
  • Implement the plan of care as delegated and perform duties within scope of practice; maintain a safe environment and respond to emergencies appropriately.
  • Answer patient call lights; schedule tests and treatments as ordered; provide unit receptionist support and assist with organizing, stocking, and maintaining supplies.
  • Transcribe physician orders and manage patient and unit records as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Demonstrated basic computer literacy skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Utah Certification Requirements (at time of hire)

  • Certified Nursing Assistant Certification in the state of Utah, or
  • Completion of a recent Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program with verification of CNA program completion (completed within the past 1 year) and CNA certification obtained within 120 days of hire, or
  • Completion of a Fundamentals of Nursing Course with passing grade within the past two years and CNA certification obtained within 120 days of hire.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as CNA Patient Care Tech in a hospital setting.
  • Physical Requirements

    Ongoing need to see and read information, operate monitors, and manage patient care; frequent interactions requiring clear verbal communication; manual dexterity for equipment; ability to lift and move patients and supplies; ability to stand for extended periods and navigate busy environments.
