Key Responsibilities
Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems including conveyors, chilling units, hydraulic systems, pneumatic tools, saws, and other abattoir-specific machinery.
Implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
Collaborate with production, QA, and health & safety teams to ensure machinery operates in compliance with hygiene, safety, and regulatory standards.
Design and modify mechanical components or equipment layouts to improve production efficiency and safety.
Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns and ensure minimal disruption to operations.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, technical documentation, and equipment history.
Oversee installation and commissioning of new equipment and coordinate with vendors as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
Minimum 3–5 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a food processing plant or industrial environment.
Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, pumps, motors, and gearboxes.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
