Lecturer Grade F : 41064 - 46049 per annum

Lecturer Grade G : 47389 - 56535 per annum

The Role

Based in the School of Pharmacy you will participate fully in the Schools range of teaching and research activities. You should have experience of teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students and be able to contribute specialist knowledge relevant to pharmaceutics within a pharmacy provision that complements the growing teaching and research interests of the School. We are particularly interested in attracting individuals who have substantial experience of working within a School of Pharmacy or equivalent industrial experience.

The School of Pharmacy benefits from being an integral part of the Faculty of Medical Sciences with strong teaching and research links to colleagues in medicine biomedical sciences dentistry psychology and chemistry alongside our three research institutes.

Key Accountabilities

To offer specialist expertise in a contemporary area of advanced drug delivery / formulation science; To undertake teaching leadership and supervision duties across a range of the School programmes initially with a focus on the pharmaceutics components of the MPharm and the MRes in Drug Delivery and Nanomedicine programme

To undertake administrative duties as deemed necessary including participation in relevant School and Faculty committees and activities

To participate in external activity related to pharmacy learning and teaching and research

To contribute to the promotion of undergraduate and postgraduate pharmacy programmes to both current and prospective students

To act as a personal tutor to a group of students concerned with students academic achievements and pastoral care

To contribute to the research strategy of the School and link with other University groups to maximise the income and impact around that work

To contribute to University administration course planning curriculum development the recruitment of students engage in teaching and scholarly activities and programme leadership

To participate in relevant staff development activities

To undertake other duties such as participation in School Faculty and University meetings as detailed by the Head of School

The Person

Knowledge Skills and Experience

Expertise in a contemporary area of advanced drug delivery / formulation science

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Creativity and innovation

Ability to work well on own initiative and as part of a team

Excellent organisational administrative and planning skills

Experience of teaching pharmaceutics at undergraduate and postgraduate level

Experience in the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate dissertation students

Specialist knowledge and interest in an area relevant to the pharmaceutics strand of an MPharm programme

Excellent organisational administrative and planning skills

Track record in publishing in peer-reviewed journals commensurate with career stage

Evidence of sucessful research grant acquisition commensurate wityh career stage

Evidence of a coherent research strategy and approriate alignment with School and Facult priorities

Desirable

Understanding of current themes and issues in the delivery of accredited MPharm programmes

Experience of supervision of PhD students to sucessful conclusion

Understanding and experience in processes involved in module and programme development and leadership

Qualifications

PhD in drug delivery pharmaceutical sciences or closely related subject

Desirable

Registrant of the General Pharmaceutical Council
