The main responsibility of the Purchasing Manager is to transform company vision, strategy and plans into a purchasing strategy while providing all Scania departments with effective purchasing support and tools to maximize overall cost effectiveness and increased profits. This is achieved by working in close cooperation with Business Unit Management and departments with well-defined processes and procedures and through clear communication.
Job Responsibilities
Set Purchasing Strategy : Responsible for purchasing strategy and procedures in the Business Plan.
- Create, develop and implement a Business Unit purchasing strategy
- Ensure clear Procurement Area strategies are implemented and maintained by Procurement Area Leaders
- Adjust and implement purchasing policies in line with Scania Corporate guidelines
- Ensure clear communication of set strategy and procedure, validate compliance and offer support when necessary
- Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
- Ensure routines to monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
- Forecast price and market trends to identify risks and opportunities
- Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
- Identifying opportunities for direct and indirect cost saving
- Supporting savings with reduction of process costs
- Ensure routines are in place to identify, contact and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
- Maintain and develop relationship with strategic suppliers
Lead Purchasing Operations : Develop, manage and follow up the purchasing and sourcing operations in the Business Unit.
