About the role

InPost Distribution are currently recruiting for a Warehouse Operations Manager to join our team in Bow. The role is responsible for maximising the performance of our Lockers operations, and requires a high‑performing individual to provide leadership, motivation, and training and development of the workforce, this role would suit a candidate coming from a similar parcel sortation operation management background this is an ESSENTIAL requirement for this role.

As Operations Manager you will lead the day to day, the efficient and effective operations and management of our parcel sortation depot. Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate will play an integral role in overseeing the activities of the warehouse, managing the shift team and running a mechanical sortation.

Location : Inpost Bow, Unit E Prologis Business Park, Twelvetrees Crescent, Bromley by Bow, E3 3JG

Shift Pattern : Tuesday - Saturday

Hours : 07 : 00am – 16 : 00pm

Salary : £40,000 – £42,000 per annum depending on experience + car allowance and meaningful benefits including life assurance

What you’ll be doing

  • Lead, support, and develop a high‑performing operational team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Ensure operational performance consistently surpasses customer expectations by aligning activities with established contract KPIs.
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customers to enhance service quality.
  • Guarantee full compliance with operational standards, including rigorous adherence to Health & Safety regulations.
  • Partner closely with the Regional Manager and General Manager to meet and exceed all operational performance targets.
  • Conduct regular team performance reviews, strategically planning and facilitating ongoing training and development initiatives.
  • Optimize the deployment and utilisation of driver and vehicle resources to maximise operational efficiency.
  • Analyse operational and financial data—including MPG, tachograph readings, fuel consumption, and damage reports—to identify opportunities for service improvements and cost savings.
  • Oversee site housekeeping and maintenance activities to ensure a safe, compliant working environment.
  • Be prepared for occasional travel across the UK to support operational needs and strengthen customer relationships.

What we need from you

  • Proven extensive experience managing mechanical parcel sortation and process operations, demonstrating strong operational leadership.
  • Expertise in continuous improvement methodologies and a track record of successfully implementing process enhancements.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Drivers Hours regulations, Tachograph requirements, and Working Time Directive (WTD) legislation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Health & Safety standards and their practical application within operational environments.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop teams by leading through example.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget management, ensuring financial targets are met and resources are optimised.
  • Skilled in the development, monitoring, and analysis of KPIs to drive performance and operational excellence.
  • Exceptional planning and organisational abilities to effectively meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in the use and interpretation of computerised systems, including Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • High level of accuracy and numeracy with a keen eye for detail, ensuring precision in all aspects of operational management.
