PAY SCALE GRADE : ($34.08 – $44.46 DOE)
REPORTS TO : Tribal Affairs Director
Brief Summary of Job Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support at the local level to facilitate information exchange and delivery of services.
- Assume responsibility for day-to-day operations of the office for Tribal Council. Compose letters and answer routine correspondence, type reports, complete and monitor grant applications, assist in gathering information on the needs of tribal members at the local level and forward above information to Kawerak and other organizations for inclusion in region-wide planning efforts.
- May serve as financial officer for the Native Village and submit reports as required.
- Establish and maintain local filing system and office procedures.
- Receive visitors, answer telephones and disseminate information.
- Assume the primary responsibility to ensure that Tribal enrollments are kept up to date.
- Schedule meetings and conferences for Tribal Council. Record and transcribe minutes for all Tribal Council meetings.
- May serve as Tribal Court clerk and assist with drafting and coding of Tribal ordinances.
- Provide staff support to the local Elder’s Committee.
- Assist with the responsibilities of the daily operations of the DMV within the Tribal Offices.
- Adheres to DMV SOP’s and any revisions to those procedures as provided from time to time during the term of the contract.
- Maintains an acceptable error rate with DMV standards in the processing of DMV transactions. These minimum standards provide for a consistent and systematic review of DMV practices, records, and inventory to ensure that all offices are providing consistent services to customers, to ensure all transactions are properly accounted for, and to ensure accurate record keeping; and,
- Reads all system messages, including but not limited to USPVS, VLS, SPEXS, and PDP’s.
- Assume or assist with the primary responsibilities of daily operations of Food Bank operations within the Tribal Offices.
- Other duties as assigned by the Tribal Council President.
Qualifications
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.Must meet the following eligibility criteria :Is at least 18 years of age and possesses a valid Alaska driver’s license or identification card;Has no current actions against driver’s license if the employee has a driver’s license;Be of good moral character per 2 AAC 91.020 (4)(A);Has not in the last 10 years been convicted of a felony;Has not in the last 5 years been convicted of a misdemeanor;Has no convictions for fraudulent activity, including but not limited to, embezzlement, theft, forgery, larceny, burglary, falsification, or identity theft.Two years previous secretarial, administrative, or supervisory experience.Must be able to type. Computer experience highly desirable.Strong organizational, oral and written communication skills.Must be able to work well with the public.Ability to obtain a Food Workers Card if required.Native Preference per Public Law 93-638.
