Job Description

Reporting directly to the Irrigation Manager, the ideal candidate will play a key role in surveying land and designing efficient, solution-driven irrigation systems for a variety of clients.

Requirements

Education : Minimum Grade 12 / NQF4.

Degree or National Diploma in a relevant field is advantageous.

Experience : Minimum 5 years in a similar role, with specific focus on irrigation design.

Technical Skills :

Proficient in Model Maker, IrriMaker, AutoCAD, and / or IrriCAD.

Experienced in land surveying using CHC NAV / TRIMBLE.

Advanced MS Excel and MS Office Suite knowledge.

Professional Affiliations : SABI membership and SABI Irrigation training will serve as an advantage

Additional Skills : Strong understanding of plant and soil science will be beneficial.

Valid Driver’s Licence and willingness to work extended hours when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct detailed land surveys and design Centre pivots, micro, and drip irrigation systems. Specific attention to efficiency and solution focused details for new and existing irrigation systems

Prepare comprehensive bills of quantities, designs, technical drawings, and client quotations. Develop professional proposals to present to clients with all the required details and pricing.

Select suitable pumps, design pumphouses, and specify pipe systems.

Present professional and solution-focused proposals to clients.

Liaise with suppliers to source quality materials at competitive prices.

Consistently liaise with installation teams, farm managers and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth installation process

Coordinate delivery and installation with suppliers, installation teams, and clients.

The Irrigation designer will, in line with the general business strategy always seek opportunities to expand markets by attending farmers' days, trade shows, and industry events.
