Our client is a dynamic UK based accountancy firm who are looking for a diligent Bookkeeper to provide essential bookkeeping services to their clients. Your role will involve ensuring accurate client accounts, meeting deadlines, and maintaining high work standards. Building collaborative client relationships is key, requiring a thorough understanding of their businesses and needs. A strong finance background, coupled with a commitment to excellence, is essential for success in this role.
This is a remote position open to those living anywhere in South Africa.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Bank Reconciliations : Match bank statements with accounting records to ensure accuracy
- Sales & Purchase Ledger Management : Record transactions, issue and process invoices, and monitor payments
- Journals : Confidently post journal entries, including accruals and prepayments , and understand their financial impact
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations : Maintain accuracy across all general ledger accounts
- VAT & CIS Returns : Prepare and submit returns in compliance with UK regulations
- Management Accounts : Prepare monthly / quarterly financial reports with insights
- Client Communication : Liaise professionally with clients and internal teams
- Software Management : Use Xero and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook) effectively for financial reporting and data handling
Skills, Experience & Requirements
Minimum of 5 years bookkeeping experienceMinimum of 3 years Xero Accounting Software experienceStrong understanding of accruals and prepayments — must be able to process and explain these with confidenceSolid understanding of VAT for UK-based clientsExperience and confidence using Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and ExcelVery strong analytical, problem-solving, and issue-resolution abilities with an eye for detailExcellent decision-making and judgment skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsProven ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressureAn organized and flexible approach to workExcellent accounting skills including a solid grasp of taxation for individuals and small companiesAbility to work in a small team and take ownership of tasksHigh commercial acumen and a self-starterExperience with additional payroll software is advantageousAbility to handle confidential information with integrityLoad Shedding
