Role Overview
As a Senior Tax Advisor / Enrolled Agent, you will be a senior member of our tax strategy team. You will actively manage a portfolio of high-net-worth and business clients, delivering both planning and compliance services. You will leverage your deep technical knowledge, client-facing skills, and strategic mindset to identify tax savings opportunities, implement them, and ensure audit-ready compliance. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented, and relationship-driven professional who can operate independently, manage deadlines, and mentor junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage comprehensive tax planning engagements for high-income individuals, executives, and business owners, including :
- Income tax projections, scenario modeling and forecasting
- Strategic analysis of compensation, capital gains, stock options (ISOs, RSUs, NSOs), and bonus structures
- Roth conversion planning, entity restructuring, charitable giving strategies (e.g., donor-advised funds, leveraged charitable deductions)
- Sophisticated investment tax optimization, including passive income, alternative investments, real estate, and carried interest
- Oversee and execute compliance filings for a diverse mix of entities :
- Individual (Form 1040, schedules, state / local returns)
- Business returns (S-Corporations, C-Corporations, Partnerships)
- Trusts, foundations, and nonprofit entities
- Multi-state and multi-jurisdiction filings
- Serve as lead client liaison : responsible for discovery, planning recommendations, review sessions, and presenting strategic options in clear, actionable form.
- Work collaboratively with bookkeeping / financial oversight teams to ensure records are accurate, timely, and optimized for tax purposes.
- Manage workflow, deliverables, and deadlines for assigned clients; ensure high quality, accuracy, and proactive communication.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes (federal, state, local) that may impact tax planning strategies, proactively updating client plans accordingly.
- Support internal training and mentoring of more junior tax staff, reviewing their work, and helping build their technical and client-service skills.
- Assist in audit support and IRS / state notices, as needed, including preparing responses, documentation, and client communication.
Qualifications & Experience
Enrolled Agent (EA) license required; additional credentials (CPA, MST, or tax attorney) a plus8+ years of progressive tax planning and compliance experience; preferably 10 years or moreDemonstrated experience across a diverse set of clients including high-net-worth individuals, executives, small businesses, S-corps, C-corps, partnerships, trusts / nonprofits / foundationsDeep technical competence in U.S. federal, state, and local tax; multi-state experience strongly preferredStrong skills in tax projections, scenario modeling, and strategic tax planningProven ability to translate complex technical tax issues into understandable recommendations for clientsExcellent client-facing skills : ability to build trust, listen to client needs, manage expectations, and present strategies clearlyDetail-oriented, highly organized, capable of managing multiple client engagements and deadlines concurrentlyProficiency with tax software (e.g. Lacerte, UltraTax, Drake, ProConnect) and Microsoft Excel; experience with tax projection / planning tools a plusStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenPreferred Characteristics
