To manage the overall financial function of a store.

Key Performance Indicators

Control, manage and evaluate the full finance support function, including policies and procedures, for the store

  • Understand all systems that relate and affect the stores, identifying potential opportunities to enhance current systems and procedures and raising these with the Regional Finance Manager (Operations)
  • Drive the change management and education of finance policies, procedures, processes, and templates
  • Ensure controls are adequate and suggest additional controls where necessary, ensuring compliance with legislation and industry standards, and the effective implementation and understanding of key controls of a process throughout the store
  • Manage and mitigate complexity in the business in order to trade
  • Monitor and track adherence to the various finance policies, procedures, processes, and templates
  • Ensure full reconciliation of all income statement and balance sheet accounts, ensuring the accounting records are accurate and complete.
  • Produce detailed reporting on all financial aspects of the businesses to enable tracking of progress
  • Guiding and support all aspects of store in financial decision making
  • Investigate ways to improve profitability
  • Manage Front End within budget and company requirements.
  • Facilitate good corporate governance

Consolidate and interpret allocated Store budgets, forecasts, and actual performance

  • End to end support of the budget process
  • Meet all timelines and have realistic and achievable budgets
  • Analyse overall store actual performance compared to budget and / or forecast
  • Compile financial forecasts and continuously revise and track the forecasts
  • Compile monthly reports of actuals vs Budget and / or forecast
  • Team Management

  • Ensure that all staff members in area of responsibility are duly trained and enabled to perform according to the required standards for customer service
  • Ensure that team members are customer-focused and provide guidance, support, or advice in situations where required
  • Communication of team goals to employees.
  • Through effective inspirational leadership, facilitate the creation of accountable, full-service teams who understand and strive to meet the needs of all stakeholders

  • Take full responsibility for performance of all direct reports, motivating and managing them in relation to quality standards and agreed benchmarks and objectives, focusing on all aspects of sound people management :

  • Maintain continuity between Head Office, DC and Stores work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Actively build relationships and network line management (including internal and external stakeholders) to gain a thorough understanding of operational impacts on the business through communicating appropriately and proactively providing solutions to address business needs relating to finance.
  • Work to align store objectives with business objectives and strategy.
  • Identify existing or potential problem areas and advise management team on how they can use Finance processes to make improvements
  • Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications & Experience required for this position
