Goldwind is seeking an HSE Officer to oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance on wind farm projects. The role involves monitoring work activities, auditing subcontractors and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Position Responsibilities
- Perform inspections of work areas to ensure compliance with contract, national and site HSE regulations.
- Monitor work activities and record relevant information.
- Audit sub‑contractor compliance to HSE plans and applicable legislative requirements, reporting to the Project Team, GW Africa, and the client.
- Serve as CR8(5) on the Wind Farm.
- Implement and manage Health and Safety systems and plans, ensuring compliance with OHS Act, MHS Act, ISO health and safety standards, and customer requirements.
- Conduct internal H&S induction training for all employees and contractors (induction, HIRA, PPE use, safe behaviour and awareness).
- Assist in compiling risk assessments (baseline, issue, continuous).
- Ensure daily risk assessments are completed, assessed, and distributed.
- Manage safety performance of subcontractors; no subcontractor is permitted to work on site without a safety file.
- Compile and update health and safety files.
- Induct all employees / visitors prior to site entry.
- Ensure appointments are conducted per the site SHE organogram and responsibilities communicated.
- Prepare the site emergency evacuation plan; provide copies to supervisors and contractors.
- Assist and support the environmental officer when not on site.
- Conduct monthly and weekly inspections.
- Revise HSE plans when applicable.
- Conduct accident / incident investigations and reporting.
Working Relationship
Function as part of the Project Site Team.Liaise with Goldwind HO, contractors, external suppliers, and client representatives.Qualifications
Diploma or certificate in HSE.SACPMP Registration.Basic Skills & Knowledge
Extremely organized and efficient.Works well under pressure and manages stress.Strong oral and written communication skills.Proclivity for catching errors and enacting appropriate changes.Excellent analytical ability.Industry-specific experience.Clear criminal record.English speaking.Familiar with MS Office and construction activities related to wind farms, substations and transmission lines.Knowledge of OHS Act and construction regulations.Level 3 first aid.Understanding of OHSAS 45001 and ISO 14001.Understanding of applicable legislation.Seniority Level
