We have an exciting opportunity for a Fitter . The purpose of this role is to perform mechanical maintenance on equipment and machinery safely and cost-effectively to maximise equipment reliability and availability.

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.
Responsibilities
Adhere to all health and safety practices and requirements.
Pipefitting : Select and cut pipes, install pipe supports, and connect pipes to fixtures, valves, and other components during the installation and maintenance of piping systems.
Ensure effective equipment and related machinery maintenance to ensure optimal utilisation and availability toward maximising production and throughput schedules.
Identify and report defects, equipment failures and time required to repair the Supervisor to enable applicable decision-making, action planning and problem resolution.
Support HME / Plant personnel by ensuring that the necessary HME / Plant and equipment maintenance preparations and maintenance tasks follow SMP (Standard Maintenance Practice) to improve work practices and operational targets.
Ensure oil samples are taken and labelled following workshop procedures to enable the Laboratory to conduct the necessary analysis and testing.
This role is in Engineering & Maintenance (ENG) department on a band J4 level reporting to the Per OrgStructure, published in February 2024
